The deformation characteristics of hot push seamless elbow are determined according to the law of the constant volume of metal material before and after plastic deformation. The diameter of the billet used is smaller than the diameter of the elbow. The deformation process of the billet is controlled by mandrel to make the compressed metal flow in the inner arc and compensate the other parts which are reduced by expanding diameter, so that the elbow with uniform wall thickness can be obtained.

The forming process of hot push seamless elbow has the characteristics of beautiful appearance, uniform wall thickness, continuous operation and so on, which is suitable for mass production. Therefore, it has become the main forming method of carbon steel and alloy steel elbow, and has been applied to the forming of some stainless steel elbow.

The heating method of forming process has medium frequency or high frequency induction heating (heating ring can be more than one or a single), flame heating and reflector furnace heating. The heating mode depends on the requirements of the forming product and the energy condition.
